These fantastic little snakes have a reputation for being pugnacious. And rightly so. This one was found checking out our BBQ and was most put out at being captured.

They are Mildly-venomous and a member of the colubridae family but when disturbed or threatened will become highly agitated striking and biting repeatedly. If handled they may also release a pungent odour from their anal glands.

Unfortunately they also resemble some of Australia's more dangerous snakes esp the Small eyed snake and are often killed due to mistaken identity.

With that in mind, it is a good idea to leave any snake you find well alone unless you are 110% sure of what it is.
